Pakistani model and actress Nadia Hussain has appealed to senior officials to take action and send the American woman, Onija Andrew Robinson, back to the US rather than turning her situation into a public spectacle.
In a video, Nadia expressed her concerns about the American woman, who reportedly came to Karachi after falling in love with a young man.
Nadia pointed out that the woman’s statements clearly suggest that her mental stability may be in question. She emphasized that her intention was not to mock the woman but to make people understand the gravity of the situation.
Nadia further clarified that the woman had reportedly been in Pakistan for several months, and now her visa had expired. She urged the Sindh government, including Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, to make arrangements to send her back to the US Nadia also called on the US Embassy to assist in facilitating her return.
In addition to government officials, Nadia made an appeal to the media as well, urging them to stop giving the woman unnecessary attention. She asked that they refrain from interviewing her or turning her into a spectacle, as this would only harm her further.
It is reported that Onija Andrew Robinson arrived in Pakistan in October 2024, and her videos, which have gone viral on social media, have garnered significant attention in recent days. Instead of continuing to fuel this attention,
Nadia Hussain urged for a more responsible and empathetic response to the situation, stating that the woman’s dignity should be respected, and the issue should be handled with care.
Earlier, Onijah was placed under special care at the psychiatric department of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC). Security personnel from both JPMC and Sindh Police have been deployed to ensure her safety and supervision.
JPMC spokesperson Jehangir Durani stated that Onijah has undergone an ‘MRI scan’, while further psychological assessments and other psychiatric tests are being conducted.
