Reliance Industries CMD Mukesh Ambani on Wednesday said it’s the best time to invest in West Bengal and revealed that Reliance’s investment in the state has increased 20-fold in less than a decade. Speaking at the West Bengal Investment Summit, he also shared his ambitious vision for the state — powered by artificial intelligence (AI).

He also announced a fresh investment commitment of Rs 50,000 crore in West Bengal by the end of this decade, and added that the investment would generate one lakh jobs in the state.

“It’s the best time to invest in West Bengal,” said Ambani adding that in the era of knowledge economy, West Bengal has a special advantage.

“Reliance has already invested Rs 50,000 crore in Bengal over the last decade. Rs 50,000 crore more will be invested by the end of this decade. Our investment will span over multiple sectors, including digital services, green energy, and retail,” he said.

Ambani reaffirmed Reliance’s commitment to driving economic growth in the state, highlighting its role in transforming Bengal’s business landscape.

He also added that Jio’s progress in the region, announcing, “Jio’s network now covers 100 percent of West Bengal’s population” and that the company is “currently building the best AI infrastructure in India.” Ambani further stated that an “AI-ready data center will be ready in 9 months”.

He acknowledged the leadership of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who was present in the audience.

Ambani said, “All of India needs this kind of inclusive and sustainable model of development so that no Indian is left behind and no region in India is left behind.”

Stating that Bengal has become a source of growth and hope within India’s fast-changing landscape, Ambani said, “Thank you for your leadership, Mamata Didi.”

The RIL chairman said that Bengal’s strategic location, improving infrastructure and its people are the state’s biggest assets.

“Bengal has always been a land of super-intelligent people,” he said, noting that when natural intelligence is combined with artificial intelligence, “there is no way that Bengal can fail.”

He also said the Reliance Foundation is privileged to partner with the state government and serve in the Kalighat Temple renovation project.

“Mamata Didi, I have to thank you personally for giving us this opportunity to serve,” Ambani said at the event, where Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was also present.

Most of this excellent work is carried out by the state government and it has been done with the spirit of devotion, he added.

“Our Foundation remains committed to serving the needs of the state and contribute to various initiatives of the Government in making the people’s lives better,” he said.
