Buckingham Palace shares update as Archie, Lilibet receive special nod

King Charles held an important meeting with UK dignitaries to bring attention to a crucial matter, which he has held close to his heart.

The Buckingham Palace on Monday shared an update as the monarch met with Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner to give a guided tour at his property.

The party visited the environmentally friendly, sustainable housing project Nansledan at the King’s Cornwall estate.

The King, who has been a strong advocate of protecting the environment, seemingly took up on his word to take action for his children and grandchildren, which also includes Prince Harry and Meghan’s children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

In a video shared by the Palace, highlights from the visit were shared alongside a message.

It detailed that Nansledan is a “540-acre extension to the seaside town of Newquay, on Cornwall’s North Coast” and how the King’s initiative started in 2014 is providing new opportunities for the locals.

“Inspired by nature, Newquay Orchard provides a range of opportunities, including vocational learning, adult education, skills development and arts events. In 2024, the orchard grew 6.8 tonnes of food for the community!” the statement read.

“At Nansledan School, the trio met staff and pupils on a tour of the school. Designed and built by the Duchy of Cornwall, the school was officially opened by His Majesty in March 2020.”

When Charles was the Prince of Wales, he made an impassioned speech in 2020 urging leaders to take action now to save the planet.

He shared that for the past 50 years he has been making the plea with “our children and grandchildren in mind because I did not want to be accused by them of doing nothing except prevaricate and deny the problem.”

The update comes after as Prince Harry and Meghan received special gifts for their two children during the Invictus Games, which the Duke of Sussex had founded in 2014.

A set of custom jerseys were presented to the royal couple by Team Nigeria during a wheelchair basketball event on Sunday. In addition to shirts for Harry and Meghan, they also received green jerseys with ‘Archie’ and ‘Lilibet’ on them.
