Real Madrid’s Dani Ceballos sidelined with muscle injury | The Express Tribune

Real Madrid’s 1-0 victory over Real Sociedad in the Copa del Rey semifinals came at a cost, as midfielder Dani Ceballos sustained an injury that may be more serious than initially expected.

In the final moments of the match at Anoeta, Ceballos collided with Takefusa Kubo, prompting immediate medical attention. Although he managed to leave the pitch on foot, he did so with noticeable discomfort.

Initially, the injury was believed to be a minor knee-to-knee impact. However, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti later stated that Ceballos had suffered a muscular problem.

Further concerns arose after journalist Edu Aguirre reported on El Chiringuito that the midfielder’s knee issues were more severe than first thought.

Real Madrid’s medical staff conducted further tests on Ceballos, confirming an injury to the semimembranosus muscle affecting the tendon in his left leg. The club expects Ceballos to be out injured until at least May.

However, according to Diario AS, the estimated recovery period is between three and four weeks. This would still rule Ceballos out of Real Madrid’s upcoming Champions League knockout round clash against Atlético de Madrid.

His absence is a significant setback for Ancelotti’s squad, particularly following the departure of Toni Kroos, which had seen Ceballos take on a more prominent role in midfield.
