A simple Rs 10,000 monthly SIP in SBI Large & Midcap Fund since its inception (total investment of Rs 36.2 lakh) would today be worth over Rs 6.75 crore, SBI Mutual Fund says in a statement.
Since its launch on February 28, 1993, the SBI Large & Midcap Fund has delivered an impressive 13.33% CAGR return.

Fast forward to February 27, 2025, that modest sum would have swelled to a staggering Rs 54.84 lakhs — a testament to the power of long-term investing and compounding returns. “SBI Large and Midcap fund, an open-ended equity scheme investing in both large and midcap stocks, has completed a milestone of 32 years. The scheme has generated 13.33% return since inception (February 28, 1993). If someone invested a lumpsum of Rs 1 lakh in the scheme when it was launched, the investment would have been worth Rs. 54.84 lakhs as on February 27, 2025,” SBI Mutual Fund said in a statement on Monday.
Since its launch on February 28, 1993, the fund has delivered an impressive 13.33% CAGR return. Even in the past five years, it has managed to generate 19.15% CAGR, showcasing its resilience across market cycles.
SBI Large & Midcap Fund: Rs 10,000 SIP Turned Into Rs 6.75 Crore
For those who followed a Systematic Investment Plan (SIP), the rewards have been even more astounding. A simple Rs 10,000 monthly SIP since inception (total investment of Rs 36.2 lakh) would today be worth over Rs 6.75 crore, SBI MF said in the statement. It has delivered a 15.17 per cent compound annual growth rate (CAGR).
Outperforming the Benchmark
The scheme, SBI Large & Midcap Fund, has delivered returns of 15.6% (15 years), 15.57% (10 years), 18.44% (5 years) and 13.65% (3 years) vis-à-vis its benchmark Nifty Large Midcap 250 TRI returns of 15.65% (15 years), 16.04% (10 years), 18.32% (5 years) and 13.59% (3 years), SBI MF said.
Why Has the Fund Done Well?
The AUM of the scheme stands at Rs 28,681 crore as on January 31, 2025. The fund is being managed by Saurabh Pant since September 2016.
