Union Budget 2025 Expectations: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will convene a meeting with distinguished economists and sectoral experts today to gather their insights and recommendations for the upcoming Union Budget, according to a senior government official.

Stock Markets to Remain Open on Budget Day
In a related update, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) announced that stock markets will remain open for trading on February 1, a Saturday, in light of the Budget presentation. Typically, stock markets are closed on weekends, but special provisions have been made for Budget day. Trading will take place during the usual hours, from 9:15 am to 3:30 pm.
Previous Saturday Budget Presentations
Similar exceptions were made for previous Budget presentations on Saturdays, including February 1, 2020, and February 28, 2015. Since the change in Budget presentation timings from 5 pm to 11 am in 2001, markets have consistently operated during regular trading hours.
