Amul, the leading dairy brand, announced a Re 1 per litre price reduction for its three main products across India.

Amul Milk Price Cut: Amul Gold, Amul Taaza and Amul Tea Special will be cheaper in their original package from Saturday as the Gujarat Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets dairy products under the Amul brand, has decided to reduce their retail prices.
They announced a Re 1 per litre price reduction for its three main products across India. In Delhi, the rate of Amul Gold milk has been reduced to Re 67 from Re 68 per litre while the price of Amul Taaza will now be Re 55 from Re 56 per litre earlier.
The decision comes when the state’s dairies are flush with milk and many member unions of GCMMF have reduced milk procurement prices that they pay to dairy farmers.
“We have reduced the prices of one-litre packs by Rs 1 per litre across India,” GCMMF managing director Jayen Mehta told PTI. “This is to encourage consumers to buy larger packs of milk and get an incentive for the same,” he added.
Mehta had earlier said that the cooperative is expecting double-digit growth in revenue during this fiscal on strong demand.
The price cut is expected to relieve customers while reinforcing Amul’s competitive edge in the dairy sector. This adjustment applies to popular variants like Amul Gold, Amul Taaza, and Amul Tea Special.
However, there will be no change in the prices of other products and in other packages. Therefore, the price of other variants will continue to be as below:
- Amul Cow Milk: ₹58 per liter
- Amul Buffalo Milk: ₹73 per litre
- Amul Slim n Trim: ₹49 per liter
- Sagar Skimmed Milk: ₹40 per liter
- Amul Shakti: ₹62 per liter
GCMMF handled 310 lakh litres of milk per day on average during the last fiscal. It has a total annual milk processing capacity of around 500 lakh litres.
GCMMF is the world’s largest farmer-owned dairy cooperative having 36 lakh farmers across 18,600 villages of Gujarat and its 18 member unions procure 300 lakh litres of milk per day.
It also ranks 8th among the top 20 dairy companies in the world in terms of milk processing, as per the International Farm Comparison Network (IFCN).
Besides the domestic market, GCMMF is exporting dairy products to about 50 countries.
Last year, GCMMF entered the US market with the launch of four variants of fresh milk to cater to the Indian diaspora and Asian population.
