Boeing Layoffs: Strategic adjustments were made affecting limited positions while ensuring no adverse impact on customers or government operations, according to a report.

US aircraft maker Boeing has laid off up to 180 employees at its engineering technology centre in Bengaluru as part of a global workforce reduction exercise, news agency PTI has reported citing a source. Last year, Boeing announced a global workforce reduction of around 10 per cent.
As part of the global workforce reduction, up to 180 staff at the Boeing India Engineering Technology Center in Bengaluru were laid off in the December quarter of 2024, said the PTI report citing the source aware of the development.
There was no official statement from Boeing.
According to PTI, the source said strategic adjustments were made affecting limited positions while ensuring no adverse impact on customers or government operations.
While some roles have been removed, new positions have also been created, the source said and added that reductions in India have been more measured, with a clear focus on maintaining customer service, safety, and quality standards.

The company’s wholly-owned engineering and technology campus in Bengaluru is one of its largest investments outside the US. Also, Boeing’s sourcing from India is at around $1.25 billion annually from a network of more than 300 suppliers, as per its website.
Last week, German luxury carmaker Audi also said it will cut as many as 7,500 jobs in the European country by 2029 in an effort to improve its flagging profitability. The layoffs, which is roughly 14 per cent of the brand’s German workforce, will mainly affect areas like administration and development.
In the current year so far, 89 tech companies have laid of a total of 23,382 employees, according to layoffs.fyi.
In 2024, 549 tech companies had sacked a total of 152,472 employees. The year 2023 witnessed the highest layoffs with 2,64,220 employees being laid off by 1,193 tech companies.
