The Union Budget 2025 brought substantial benefits for Bihar, including creation of a Makhana board and greenfield airports.
Budget 2025: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday lauded the Union Budget 2025-26 presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, calling it “progressive, futuristic and forward-looking.”
The JD(U) leader acknowledged the various provisions of the budget for Bihar, such as the creation of a Makhana board and greenfield airports, calling them crucial steps to meet Bihar’s needs ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.
“Through this budget, the Central Government has taken several steps to further increase the pace of development of the country. The announcements made for Bihar in the budget will further accelerate the development of Bihar,” he said.
“The proposal of a Makhana Board to improve the production, processing, value addition and marketing of Makhana will benefit the farmers. Providing the facility of greenfield airports in Bihar to meet the future needs of the state will increase the number of international flights, which will greatly benefit the people here,” he added.
The Bihar leader also praised Finance Minister Sitharaman for two major income tax announcements: raising the rebate ceiling from Rs 7 lakh to Rs 12 lakh and restructuring the tax slabs under the new regime.
“Many steps have been taken in the interest of the poor, youth and farmers in the budget, which is welcome. I thank the respected Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman for presenting a better budget,” Kumar remarked.

Budget 2025 Promises Bihar Bounty
The Union Budget 2025 brought substantial benefits for Bihar. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, dressed in a Madhubani saree, unveiled major projects spanning agriculture, infrastructure, education, and aviation.
A Makhana Board will be established to boost the production, processing, and marketing of makhana, benefiting the state’s farmers.
In addition, four new greenfield airports will be developed, along with the expansion of Patna Airport and a brownfield airport at Bihta to improve connectivity.
The budget also includes the creation of a National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management to promote food processing and generate employment. IIT Patna will undergo infrastructure and hostel expansions, further strengthening Bihar’s growing education sector.
