Started from Kolkata, Reliance Jio is today not just the No.1 digital services provider or the data company in India, it is the No. 1 data company in the world, says Mukesh Ambani during the West Bengal Investment Summit in Kolkata.
Reliance Industries Chairman & Managing Director Mukesh Ambani on Wednesday said Jio opened its commercial operations in 2016 from Kolkata and this auspicious launch has proved very lucky for us. He said that started from Kolkata, Jio is today not just the No.1 digital services provider or the data company in India, it is the No. 1 data company in the world.
“Back in 2016, Jio opened its commercial operations from Kolkata, this very city, the City of Joy. This auspicious launch has proved, Didi, very lucky for us. It not only triggered a Digital Revolution across the whole of India. It transformed India into a Digital Superpower!” said Ambani during the West Bengal Investment Summit in Kolkata where Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was also present.
Today, Jio is not just the No.1 digital services provider or the data company in India; it is the No. 1 data company in the world, and this started from Kolkata, he added.
“By the end of 2023, Jio completed the fastest trans-national 5G rollout in the world,” Ambani said.
Jio’s network now covers 100 per cent of Bengal’s population, he added.
“I am particularly thankful to the people and our customers in Kolkata city, because they continue to maintain the record of the highest users of data in India on our Jio network,” the RIL chairman and managing director said.
Praising the people from Bengal, Mukesh Ambani said the state has always been a land of super-intelligent people and there is no way that the state can fail when natural intelligence is enhanced by the capabilities of artificial intelligence (AI).
“…No power on earth can stop Bengal’s resurgence,” he said.
Reliance Industries CMD Mukesh Ambani also announced a fresh investment commitment of Rs 50,000 crore in West Bengal by the end of this decade, and added that the investment would generate one lakh jobs in the state.
“It’s the best time to invest in West Bengal,” said Ambani adding that in the era of knowledge economy, West Bengal has a special advantage.
