Amanda Seyfreid opened up about the unforgettable moment she shared with Cynthia Erivo.
In the recent episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the Mama Mia! actress recalled singing alonside Cynthia Erivo during her audition for Glinda in Wicked.
“I was able to really prepare, and I’m telling you, I’ve never felt that solid in my voice than I did at the auditions. And that’s kind of what I got out of it,” the Mean Girls star told host Josh Horowitz.
Reflecting on her experience, she added, “I do, again, think everything happens for a reason,” mentioning that her family still sings Defying Gravity everyday, despite not landing the role for Glinda.
Talking about the most unforgettable time, she continued, “I also got to sing with Cynthia, and that was a moment in itself.”
The 39-year-old artist’s statement comes few months after, Erivo had expressed her relief over Ariana Grande playing Glinda.
In an interview with The New York Times in November 2024, the Stand Up songstress said it was “no surprise whatsoever” to her when she learned Grande had gotten the role of Glinda.
“Thank goodness, because it was not the two ladies that I was auditioning with,” said Erivo back then.
While Erivo did not reveal their identities, Seyfried had previously shared that she tried out for the part of Glinda.
Currently, Seyfried is starring in Long Bright River which is streaming on Peacock since March 13, 2025.
Meanwhile, Erivo’s Wicked: For Good, which wrapped its production ahead of the release of first instalment of Wicked, is slated for release on November 21, 2025.
