Ayo Edebiri has clarified that her recent post about Elon Musk was not intended to stir up controversy.
The Emmy-winning actress took to her Instagram Story, writing, “Stop making my Ig stories news. I’m just tryna have a silly goofy time.”
This came after Edebiri shared a post claiming that she received “insane death threats and racial slurs” due to Musk’s reaction to a fake report about her replacing Johnny Depp in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
Edebiri re-shared the fake report from February 2024, which Musk responded to with “Disney sucks.”
She then wrote, “Just remembering when I got some of the most insane death threats and racial slurs of my life (idk if it’s the #1 moment, but for sure top 3) for a fake reboot of a movie I had never even heard of because of this man.”
Edebiri also referenced Musk’s controversial hand gestures, calling him “double Sieg Heil-ing fascist” and an “idiot.”
When her post started making headlines, Edebiri clarified that she was just having a “silly goofy time” with the Musk post.
For work front, the future of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise remains uncertain, with multiple ideas swirling, including a potential reboot with an all-new cast.
