David Tennat gives update on presenting upcoming 2025 Bafta Awards

David Tennat reveals name of A-list who he ‘p***d’ off during 2024 Bafta Awards

David Tennat recently announced his plans of hosting the Bafta awards for a second time.

Ahead of the event, the Good Omen star in conversation to Radio Times revealed an incident that made a A-list celebrity annoyed with him.

“The Baftas are supposed to be kind. Last year we weren’t trying to roast people, but there was a joke about Cate Blanchett, and she looked a little bit annoyed, a little bit pissed off,” said the Harry Potter and Goblet of Fire actor.

During last year’s ceremony the Doctor Who artist addressed the audience as he joked about Blanchett bagging the most awards.

Tennat said that he always thought the seating arrangement made the winners sit in at the front or end of the aisle adding that “if you’ve got to scramble and climb over Cate Blanchett to get your hands on an award, that is what you do.”

Realising his mistake he said, “Oh God, no. I think you’re brilliant. I was just trying to be witty and make a point about how you’ve got lots of prizes, and we love you.”

“So, I think if I’ve learned anything, it’s probably that I’m not interested in picking fights or making anyone feel in any way uncomfortable. If I have a style, it’s only that,” he told the outlet.

Bafta Awards are slated to air on BBC One on Sunday, February 16, 2025.
