Sandra Lee defends Meghan Markle’s Netflix show amid backlash

Sandra Lee is defending Meghan Markle’s Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, after it received backlash.

Lee, a James Beard Foundation Award-winning chef, exclusively told Us Weekly at the New York Women in Film and Television 2025 MUSE Awards, “I was actually surprised about the backlash to the show. It didn’t seem fair.”

Lee praised the show, saying, “Megan’s show is very well done [and] beautifully filmed. [It has] calming, serene content — and she even used my trick of using a plastic bag as a piping bag for her cake! I’m happy for her. Her crew is doing a great job.”

As a lifestyle expert, Lee understands the challenges of creating content that appeals to a wide audience. “[I’ve been] in the lifestyle space for years. We have mixed relatable and unrepeatable elements [too].”

Lee offered Meghan “good luck” upon the news that “With Love, Meghan” would return for a second season. “Keep on going, and inspire people to make beautiful things,” Lee concluded.

Earlier this month, Netflix released With Love, Meghan, a docuseries showcasing Meghan Markle’s renewed enthusiasm for hobbies like cooking, floral design, and DIY projects.

The Duchess of Sussex, 43, shares quality time with celebrity friends, including Mindy Kaling, Abigail Spencer, and Daniel Martin, as they explore new recipes and creative pursuits together.
