The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday unveiled the match schedule for the 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier, set to take place in Pakistan from April 9 to 19. The Qualifier will be played at two iconic venues in Lahore: Gaddafi Stadium and the Lahore City Cricket Association (LCCA) Ground.
This sixth edition of the tournament features teams from four Full Members – Bangladesh, Ireland, Pakistan, and the West Indies, who will compete alongside Associate Members Scotland and Thailand in a 15-match league.
The top two teams from the Qualifier will secure their spots in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 later this year.
Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and host nation India have already qualified for the World Cup, having finished in the top six of the 10-team ICC Women’s Championship (2022-25).
Bangladesh, Ireland, Pakistan, and the West Indies qualified for the event by finishing seventh to tenth in the Women’s Championship, while Thailand and Scotland earned their places based on their rankings in the ICC Women’s ODI Team Rankings as of October 28, 2024.
Notable matchups in the tournament include Pakistan facing the West Indies on April 14 in a day-night match at Gaddafi Stadium, Bangladesh taking on the West Indies at LCCA on April 17, and a thrilling sub-continental rivalry between Pakistan and Bangladesh at LCCA on April 19.
ICC CEO Geoff Allardice expressed excitement about the tournament, stating: “We are pleased to announce the match schedule for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2025. The six competing teams are just one step away from the Women’s Cricket World Cup, and I am sure they will all be eagerly looking forward to the competition.”
He added, “On behalf of the ICC, I would like to wish the teams all the best for the tournament in Lahore as part of the build-up to the Cricket World Cup later this year.”
