Planning a visit to Amarnath but wondering how to register for the sacred yatra? Here’s a step-by-step process for online or offline registration.

While the Amarnath Cave remains inaccessible for most of the year due to snow, it opens for a short period in summers.

In delightful news, devotees can now plan a visit to one of Hinduism’s most sacred pilgrimages, the Amarnath Yatra. The registrations for the holy visit have finally begun, prompting thousands of devotees to embark on the spiritual trek and seek blessings from Lord Shiva at the Amarnath Cave Temple in Jammu and Kashmir. The religious site is popular among Hindus for its naturally formed ice Shiva Lingam, which is worshipped with deep devotion.

Wondering how to register for the sacred yatra? Fret not, as here we explain the process for both online and offline registration to get started on this divine journey.

Amarnath Yatra 2025: Important Dates

Yatra start date: June 29, 2025

Yatra end date: August 19, 2025 (Shravan Purnima)

Route options:

  • Pahalgam Route (Traditional, longer)
  • Baltal Route (Shorter but steeper)

Amarnath Yatra 2025: Online Registration

To register online, pilgrims should visit the official Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board (SASB) website. They can also register offline through over 540 authorised bank branches across India.

  • On the official website, click on ‘Online Services’ in the top menu.
  • Locate ‘Yatra Permit Registration’ from the dropdown and click on it.
  • Carefully go through all the guidelines, including do’s and don’ts. Once done, select ‘I Agree’, followed by clicking on ‘Register.’
  • In the next step, you are required to fill in your personal details like name, preferred yatra date, Aadhaar number and mobile number.
  • Proceed with uploading a passport-size photo and a scanned copy of your Compulsory Health Certificate (CHC).
  • The next step requires you to verify your mobile number via the OTP sent to your phone. Within two hours, you will receive a payment link. Follow the link to pay the registration fee (approximately Rs 220, but it can vary).
  • Once the payment is done, you will be allowed to download your Yatra Registration Permit directly from the portal.

Amarnath Yatra 2025: Offline Registration

Moving on to registrations in offline mode, the Jammu and Kashmir government has allocated centers like Vaishnavi Dham, Panchayat Bhawan and Mahajan Hall to ease the process for devotees.

  • Visit one of the centres and collect a token slip. The slip is issued three days before your Yatra date.
  • A day after getting your token slip, visit Saraswati Dham for your medical check-up and registration.
  • Collect your RFID card from the designated center in Jammu on the same day and complete the formalities.

It is mandatory to be careful while completing the process and make sure to wrap it in advance. Furthermore, ensure that you are carrying all necessary documents to avoid any hassles. These documents include a certificate and valid ID.
