At a time when most people are struggling to find or keep a job, a high-income Bengaluru family’s struggle to shift to Gurgaon due to job constrains has left netizens divided. A woman from Bengaluru recently took to social media to share her troubles– her husband, who earns INR 5 lakhs a month in Bengaluru, is unable to find a similar paying job in Gurgaon. The couple have been married for six years and have a child together. However, due to work, financial, and personal-life obligations, the family is living apart for months now.
Bengaluru or Gurgaon? The high-earning family’s struggles
The woman shared on social media that she got married six years ago and she and her husband were working in Bengaluru, where the couple earned a monthly income of INR 5 lakhs. Over the next few years, the husband’s career flourished and he earned INR 5 lakhs a month while in 2022, the woman decided to quit her job and start her own business. In 2024, the couple had a child together and it was then that having a work-life balance became a difficult for them considering the logistics and travel time. Due to this they decided to move to Gurgaon.
Despite applying for various positions and extensive networking, her husband is unable to find a high-paying job in Gurgaon as per their expectations. The woman also highlighted in her post that Bengaluru and Gurgaon have significant differences in their pay scale which has further made it difficult for her husband to find a similar job in the megacity. Meanwhile, the woman and her child have moved to Gurgaon so that she is able to manage her work and family responsibilities. However, this has created a dilemma for the family and they are unable to decide if they should live together in Bengaluru so that the husband can earn more, or should they choose a low-paying job and have a better work-life balance in Gurgaon?

The woman’s strange dilemma left many netizens divided. While some were amused knowing that the family’s net income was INR 1 crore, which is unimaginable for many considering the volatile job markets in today’s time, others were more concerned about the reality of work-life balance and true wealth in life.
For instance, one user said that the family’s combined income of INR 1 crore was a great milestone even in Bengaluru, and shifting to Gurgaon might not give them the same job opportunities. Meanwhile, another user said that moving to Gurgaon or NCR wouldn’t be a great decision considering the city’s pollution and other problems which would affect their quality of life, especially as their child is now growing up. Another user gave a practical solution that the woman should hire a few people and delegate tasks to them– this would reduce her workload, and she’ll be able to focus on her family.
