A group of people allegedly waved the Palestine flag and raised slogans after offering Eid prayers in UP’s Saharanpur, police said. The matter is being investigated, following which further action will be taken, said SP Vyom Bindal.

Eid-ul-Fitr prayers were offered peacefully at over 31,500 mosques across Uttar Pradesh, said DGP Prashant Kumar. He said appeals made by authorities were followed diligently and road traffic remained unaffected.

A clash broke out in Tonk’s Malpura on the occasion of Eid. Thousands of people gathered and started raising slogans at the truck stand after offering the prayers. This led to a traffic jam on the Jaipur-Bhilwara State Highway and Dudu-Chhan State Highway. The police tried to disperse the crowd, but people started clashing with the police. Eventually, the police managed to clear the jam on the Jaipur-Bhilwara Highway and then on the Dudu-Chhan Highway after counseling the crowd.

The incident was linked to the procession that has been banned for the past five years during Eid. People were chanting slogans about the procession, despite no permission being granted for it. The unexpected gathering of thousands and their slogans led to a tense atmosphere.

Sambhal DM Rajender Pensiya said that nearly 50,000 devotees visited Shahi Eidgah and offered namaz peacefully.

“All the arrangements were good. Around 50 thousand people visited Shahi Eidgah, and all of them offered Namaz peacefully…For Navratri, we have made arrangements for water supply, electricity and cleanliness,” he said.

Sheer Khurma

To prepare this, saute pistachios, almonds and raisins well in ghee.

In another hot pan, roast vermicelli in ghee.

Next up, simmer some milk in a wide pan till it thickens, add sugar and simmer again.

Add roasted vermicelli, dry fruits, dates and saffron to the milk.

Mix it well and add cardamom powder on the top.

Serve chilled and garnish with dates.

Cut the chicken/mutton into small pieces and marinate it with yoghurt mixed with some spices and ginger garlic paste. Let it rest for a few hours.

In a separate pan deep fry onions till they turn golden brown.

Take the chicken and cook it in a pan until the colour changes to light brown and then add milk.

In another container boil some rice till it is 50 per cent cooked.

Take a separate container and layer chicken and rice one by one and top it up with some saffron milk.

Keep the pot in low flame and wait until the rice is cooked.

Serve hot with raita or salan.

Children were seen sharing hugs and people offering namaz at the historic Taj Mahal in Agra as they celebrate Eid.

A verbal argument broke out between police and the devotees after officials stopped them from entering Moradabad Eidgah to offer Namaz. Police stopped devotees from entering the Eidgah as a large number of people were present inside.

Under the banner of Hindu Muslim Unity Committee, Hindus showered flowers on the Muslims who came to Eidgah, located at Delhi Road, to celebrate Eid al-Fitr.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee said on Eid, “We are secular. Navratri is going on; I extend my best wishes for that as well, but we do not want riots to take place. Common people do not involve in such things only political parties do. This is a matter of shame. Earlier, the ‘Laal’ party used to give statements about secularism. Today, ‘laal’ and ‘geua’ have united. We will fight alone. We are ready to sacrifice our lives for all religions…The duty of the majority is to protect the minority, and the duty of the minority is to stay with the majority…”

Speaking about the security arrangements for Eid, Sambhal SDM Vandana Mishra said, “The Nazam of Eid-Al-Fitr has been conducted peacefully. Now, the people are heading toward their houses. All the arrangements were made. There has been no trouble…”

On the occasion of Eid, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee said, “We are secular. Navratri is going on; I extend my best wishes for that as well, but we do not want anyone to create chaos…Common people do not create chaos, but political parties do that. This is a matter of shame. Taking to X, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended greetings on Eid and wrote, “Greetings on Eid-ul-Fitr. May this festival enhance the spirit of hope, harmony and kindness in our society. May there be joy and success in all your endeavours. Eid Mubarak!”

Security has been beefed up in UP’s Ayodhya ahead of Eid celebrations. Speaking about the same, IG Range Ayodhya, Praveen Kumar said, “We are conducting foot patrols continuously to maintain peace. Navratri is also going on, and we are in contact with everyone. We are vigilant about maintaining peace; all our officials are on the ground.”
