Mira Rajput talked about how a nutritious diet plays a critical role in maintaining hair and scalp health.
Mira Rajput has always managed to impress the fashion police with her impeccable looks. Ever since she started her beauty line, the social media personality has been quite vocal about how she takes care of her hair and skin. Recently, Mira got candid with a dermatologist on her YouTube channel. She talked about hair and scalp nutrition and also shared some of her beauty secrets.
Taking to her YouTube channel, Mira Rajput invited dermatologist Dr Jushya Bhatia and they talked about how nutrition plays a key role in hair and scalp health. She mentioned that while using good products can be helpful, change can only happen when you take care of what you eat. They talked about the importance of a nutritious diet and how including the right supplements can be a game changer.
Talking about how diet plays a role in haircare, Mira said that she notices a change in her hair when she is not eating right. She said, “Whether I’m stressed, whether I have a lot going in my mind or just binge eating because it is Diwali or you’re going on a holiday – it does have an impact on how your hair behaves.”
Dr Jushya, on the other hand, mentioned how including supplements like biotin, antioxidants like vitamins E and A, super berries, and nuts can be helpful. She also mentioned how eating a lot of unhealthy fats and processed food can make your hair fragile as it can lead to an insulin spike. Dr Jushya said, “It [insulin] reduces the blood supply, so you have fragile hair, inflamed and irritated scalp, more dandruff.”
Mira added, “In a way, it’s just like growing a plant…you have to feed it with the right nutrition, give it enough water, sunlight, the right vitamins.”
Here are five lifestyle changes that can help improve the health and appearance of your hair:
- 1. Eat a Balanced Diet: Ensure you’re getting plenty of vitamins and minerals that support hair health, like vitamins A, C, D, E, biotin, and omega-3 fatty acids. Foods like leafy greens, nuts, fish, and eggs are great options.
- 2. Stay Hydrated: Drinking enough water helps to keep your hair and scalp hydrated, which is essential for healthy hair growth and preventing dryness or brittleness.
- 3. Avoid Overwashing: Washing your hair too frequently can strip it of natural oils. Aim to wash your hair every 2-3 days, or less if you can, to maintain your scalp’s natural moisture balance.
- 4. Limit Heat Styling: Excessive heat can damage hair over time. Try to reduce the use of hair dryers, straighteners, and curling irons, or use them on a lower heat setting. Don’t forget to apply a heat protectant when you do style.
- 5. Get Regular Scalp Massages: A gentle scalp massage can stimulate blood flow to the hair follicles, promoting hair growth. You can incorporate oils like coconut or argan oil for added nourishment.
