On Monday, during a local channel’s Ramazan transmission, celebrity couple Zara Noor Abbas and Asad Siddiqui opened up about their journey into parenthood, shedding light on their experiences of loss and the joy of welcoming their daughter, Noore Jahan. The couple candidly discussed the emotional complexities surrounding their transition to parenthood, emphasising their desire for a healthy child over any gender preference.
Looking back, Asad spoke about the deep and lasting impact of losing their firstborn son, Aurangzeb, who was born lifeless at birth in 2021. This heartbreaking experience shaped their perspective during their subsequent pregnancy. Asad expressed, “I just wanted a healthy baby because we had recently lost one. And he was our baby boy; we had even named him – Aurangzeb – and shopped for him. So when we were expecting again, I instinctively assumed it would also be a baby boy because our minds were prepared for one from before.”
“But then Noore Jahan came into the picture, and she’s like our baby boy,” the actor added with affection. Recalling the naming process for their baby girl, the couple disclosed that the name Noore Jahan was suggested by Asad’s late father, after considering names like Jahan Ara and Noor Jahan.
Zara first spoke publicly about their stillbirth experience during a podcast with Freiha Altaf in 2022, calling it a life-changing event. She has since advocated for open discussions on pregnancy loss, encouraging women to seek support from one another. In the same year, Asad, reflected on the emotional toll of their loss, emphasising the role of faith in their healing and urging people to be more mindful before commenting on others’ personal lives.
Zara and Asad tied the knot in 2017 and lost their first child in 2021. The couple marked the arrival of their daughter, Noore Jahan, in March last year, announcing her birth on social media, “Alhamdulillah, we announce ourselves as Amma and Abba to the most beautiful baby girl in the world, Noore Jahan Siddiqui.”
